A community-wide supply drive, aptly named “Fuel the Schools,” is currently underway to gather essential resources for students and schools in Shelby and Panola Counties for the upcoming academic year. The initiative aims to provide much-needed support, from basic school supplies to healthy refreshments for summer sports activities.

The organizers, which include Carthage Tire, Center Tire, and Haslam Tire, are encouraging community members to contribute to this vital effort. They emphasize their role as “a small part in amazing communities” and express their eagerness to give back to local schools.

How to Donate:

The “Fuel the Schools” drive is now accepting donations through August 11th. The types of items requested are varied and designed to meet a range of needs: School supplies for any age, cases of water, low sugar drinks, healthy snacks

Community members interested in donating can drop off their contributions at any of the three participating locations, Monday through Friday: Carthage Tire, Center Tire, Haslam Tire (located in Joaquin, Tx.)

How Schools and Students Will Receive Supplies:

The primary goal of the drive is to “help the schools out as much as we can” and to “provide the school supplies needed for our area schools”. According to the organizers, all collected donations will be divided and distributed directly to Shelby & Panola County schools. This ensures that the supplies reach the institutions that serve the students in need, rather than being disbursed to individuals directly by the collection points.

The initiative reflects a strong community spirit, with organizers stating their commitment to “give back” to local schools and students. Residents are encouraged to participate and help “Fuel the Schools” for a successful academic year ahead
