As a media partner of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce, we share information about events in the community calendar. Anyone is able and encouraged to submit their event to the calendar.This is an excellent, free resource provided by our friends at the Chamber, in collaboration with local businesses, that promotes events better than any other local platform. Visit their website at pcctx.panolacountytexas.com and click ‘Community Calendar,’ then ‘Add Community Event.’ It’s that easy!

Pizza Hut to support Hill Country Flood Relief with Fundraiser
Carthage residents can grab a slice for a good cause on Monday, July 28. Pizza Hut, located at 1208 W. Panola St., will donate 25% of its sales to aid recovery efforts for communities impacted by the Texas Hill Country floods.
Funds raised will benefit the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR). The initiative is part of a statewide effort by Pizza Hut restaurants to support neighbors in need.
Chuck Wagon Gang to perform at Central Baptist Church this Sunday
Central Baptist Church in Carthage invites the community to a special Sunday of music and fellowship on July 27. The beloved gospel group The Chuck Wagon Gang will sing during the 10:45 a.m. worship service, with a free lunch and concert to follow at noon in the Family Life Center.

Chamber seeks volunteers for Back-to-School Teacher Coffees
The Panola County Chamber of Commerce is calling for volunteers to help spread some cheer at its annual Back-to-School Teacher Coffees. Community ambassadors are needed to deliver donuts, juice, and supplies to local campuses in early August as part of a warm welcome for educators.
Volunteer opportunities are available for: Monday, August 4 at Gary ISD, Thursday, August 7 at Panola Charter, Friday, August 8 at Beckville ISD, Wednesday, August 13 at Panola College
Volunteers will pick up refreshments and supplies from the Chamber office and help serve at each location. To get involved and show appreciation for local educators, reach out to the Chamber at (903) 693-6634.
Mud Wars returns to SWCC arena for a second year of fun
Get ready to dive into a night of messy, family-friendly competition—Mud Wars is back! The second annual event will be held Saturday, August 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the SWCC Arena.
Open to all ages, Mud Wars features a variety of muddy games and challenges, with prizes for the winners. No special gear required—just come in play clothes and prepare to get dirty. Food will be available from the concessions team, so come early and fuel up before the mud starts flying!
Village Salon gears up for annual Haircutathon
Every year, the Village Salon provides FREE haircuts for kids, and this year they’re once again calling on the community to help make the day extra special.
Hosted at the Village Salon, Monday, August 11, 9 a.m. through 4 p.m.; This year, all donations and funds raised will benefit The Wisemen Group, a faith-based facility that supports those in need.
Here’s how you can help: Donate items for raffle baskets or door prizes, provide goodies to pass out to kids, contribute snacks, food, and drinks.

Briarcliff to Host Back-to-School Supply Drive with a Tasty Twist
Briarcliff Skilled Nursing Center in Carthage is inviting the community to “Taco About a Back to School Bash” on Friday, August 8. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., anyone who donates new school supplies at 4054 NW Loop will receive a free taco—or maybe even two!
The event aims to collect supplies for students in need while giving donors a fun and flavorful thank-you. For more information, contact Misty Copeland at 903-693-8504.
SAKS of Love to Host 6th Annual School Clothes Giveaway in Center
SAKS of Love will host its 6th Annual School Clothes Giveaway on August 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Burning Bush, located at 1229 Southview Circle in Center, Texas. The event offers free garments, socks, shoes, hygiene kits, school supplies, and more to families in Shelby, Nacogdoches, Angelina, and Panola counties.
No registration is required, and items are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The first 60 children will receive a backpack, school supplies, and a book. Door prizes and free snow cones will also be part of the event. Sponsors include Walmart, Cato, Ross, and several local businesses and organizations.

Potlatch vendor sign-ups now open
Taking place September 26–27 at the Carthage Civic Center, Potlatch 2025 vendor sign-ups are now open!
This year, we’re offering two full days of business for indoor vendors, adjusted Saturday hours, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Opening Ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m., and a Friday Night Car Show.
Food Vendors: we’re introducing a short application process to ensure a great experience for all. Apply online (Food Vendor Form.) Prefer paper? Email us for a printable version. Retail Vendors: (Indoor, Outdoor & Info-Only Booths) complete the retail vendor form online or request a printable form via email.
